We encourage children to express themselves from an early age. It’s our responsibility to show our youngest students how powerful their imagination and creativity can really be. That’s why our 较低的学校 students have ample time to explore and develop new talents in 艺术, 音乐及表演场地.

A defining feature of our 较低的学校 curriculum is the inclusion of yearlong specials in music, 艺术, and drama that students p艺术icipate in each day. These experiences build poise, self-confidence, creativity, and a love of learning and exploring. This immersion allows children to grow from practice, 尝试新形式, and dive deeper into certain subjects. Our 艺术s instruction opens students to a variety of experiences in different forms, 媒介, 流程, 还有时间段. 什么能引起他们的共鸣? What moves them to create their own work? Because when they are able to take that self-expression and channel it into tangible interests and disciplines, they likely discover a lifelong passion. With their own 艺术 and music areas, 表现空间, 指定教室, students have ample time and resources to develop new talents, 自由表达自己, and build a strong 艺术istic foundation.

视觉艺术

从学前班开始, our visual 艺术s program sets students on a path of exploration and self-discovery that will serve them well throughout their lives. 在最年轻的时候, children are introduced to visual information whether it be in real life or through digital platforms. How they understand and digest this information is crucial to navigating a constantly changing world. 一开始, we introduce students to a wide range of materials and methods while teaching them new skills, 概念, 以及解决问题的技巧. As they get older, students are exposed to more advanced 概念 like color theory and 3-D 艺术. Along the way they gain knowledge in 媒介 like sculpting, 绘画, 和绘画, and learn to work collaboratively and independently. By the time they finish fifth grade, students have completed a journey of 艺术istic growth, skill building and self-discovery. 

戏剧

从即兴创作, 剧院, and puppeteering classes to a host of performance opportunities, our drama program focuses on giving students the chance to explore their emotions, 培养对他人的同理心, and gain confidence in expressing themselves. As they begin to have fun flexing their imagination and working as p艺术 of a team, students gain experience in 概念 like improvisation, 听, 和记忆. 通过合作, they begin to support and inspire each other, helping build empathy and confidence in an open and comfortable environment. Students begin to explore a variety of musical styles from around the world, learning to understand different cultures and the wide range of possibilities music has to offer. By the time they get to 中学, they will have a strong appreciation of music while also having experience in writing, 阅读, 作曲, 玩, 和唱歌.
